Nuguard KX & KXs Review

You might remember that just about a year ago the folks over at NewerTech sent me their NuguardKX case for the iPhone to try out. I’ve has the case on my phone since shot the review and posted it online, and the case has never left my phone since. Like I mentioned in that video, I genuinely love the case. i love the way it looks, feels. and the amazing protection it offers compared to its slim profile. I use and recommend this case everyday. so I was happy when I received an email from NewerTech asking me to take a look at their complementing KXS screen protector.

Along with the KXS screen protector, I also opted for the Storm Trooper white addition of the KX case. Just to give a brief overview of the case again, you’ll notice it’s  actually very small and lightweight for a protective case. It offers a soft, almost felted material on the interior of the case keeping the back of the phone protected, which I really appreciate, and the exterior  is a harder, firmer shell with a cross hatch texture on the back, keeping the hone from sliding around. The case is very comfortable in the hands, and all the buttons are easily accessible. I mentioned in my previous review that the mute switch was a bit hard to get to, which is an occasional issue, but I found that 95% of the time I can switch the toggle in my pocket by feel. One of the biggest selling points of this case for me is that it offers protection without the bulk. I love the slim profile of the case, making it much more comfortable in the hands and easier to get in and out of pockets.

The next item in this combo is the KXS screen protector. It’s a special 3 layer protector that prevents dust and finger print build up, shocks and impacts to the screen, as well offer an easy install. One thing I will point out is that this screen protector is Case Friendly, which means it leave a bit of room around the protector so it doesn’t get caught in the case, which is very nice. Now one of the the problems I’ve always had with screen protectors is the install. There’s a reason why Invisible Shield offers special kiosks in malls to install them. I was a bit  concerned when I opened the box up and found no instructions, but after looking over all the pieces, I got it figured out. The install of the KXs was extremely painless, and after a few alignment mishaps, I finally got in on and I was good to go. Like any screen protector, there were a few air  bubbles in the beginning but they were all gone after 10 min.

I honestly have no complaints about the KXS screen proctor. As you saw, install was easy and it doesn’t have that “filmy” feel that makes the screen less responsive. NewerTech says it will withstand the impact from a hammer, and they have videos on their sites to prove it. I wasn’t willing to go that far, but I did simulate a simple pocket text and rubbed the keys that are usually n my pocket against the phone. Even stabbing the screen directly did nothing, and after wiping the screen off, it looked good as new.

With a total protection cost coming in under $40, the KX case and KXS screen protector are unbeatable for the price. The KX is a great light weight comfortable case that offers protection without the bulk, and the KX s is an outstanding screen protector that is easily installed and uneatable for $10. Every piece of NewerTech gear I’ve used has been outstanding, the KX & KXS are no exception. If you’re looking for slim case that offers great drop protection as well as a screen protector that easily to install and does the same, the Nuguard KX nd KXs are no brainer.
